Alright, some know the health drama that we've been involved in, but I'll bring everyone up to speed.
We all had a nasty cold/respiratory virus for about 5 weeks, James worse (and longer) than everyone else. He was almost over it and then we all got a stomach virus. Grace was the only one who was photogenic enough to post. It was short lived (thankfully!), but nasty! I got a total of 6 hours of sleep over two nights. Talk about the living dead! Ugh!
Ok, so poor James started running a fever on Saturday night - after seeming better from his stomach junk! He continued to be very whiny and clingy (read: I can't put him down even to pee). He continued to grow crankier over the next couple of days. Oh, and did I mention that he refused almost all food and drink from Friday noon until Monday morning? And that he would suddenly fall down, for no apparent reason? During this time, I'm trying (obviously, desperately) to figure out what's going on. I was thinking his might be a problem and I was starting to be concerned about the possibility of strep, too. He started showing signs of dehydration (duh!) and I finally broke down and took him in on Monday afternoon. The (supposedly well-trained, professional) doctor looked him over and told me he looked fine. A slightly red throat, but ears and otherwise looked great.
Two days have passed and he is now at the point where he cries all the time, with very few, very short breaks. He has also broken out in a rash on his torso, neck and face. I took him in, again. This time he has a "raging ear infection," (that is a quote) and, yes, this doctor is running a throat culture. We'll have the results back in a couple of days. Will someone tell me how you go from "fine" to having a "raging ear infection" in two days? Especially when, without looking in his ears, I could tell you he had a problem!?!?!? Arrgg!
And some wonder why I have pretty much written off the conventional medical community!
Sorry, just had to vent!
