Well, we're overdue for a 5 month update on James. He has stopped growing at his enormous rate, in fact, he has grown very little, if at all, since his last check-up. The doctor says it's hard to measure babies and that it's normal for babies who weren't meant to be enormous but who started out with a huge growth spurt. But looking back, I wonder . . .
I wasn't going to blog this, but we're sharing our life experiences, right? Please, forgive me if I rant a bit. James is about 3 weeks behind on his check-ups, so he just had his 4 month a couple of weeks ago. Well, they gave him all the routine shots and now, 11-13 days later, he is having mild convulsions. He hasn't had any today, Praise God! We didn't put two and two together with the first round of shots, but he had 3 mild convulsions a while after those also. They were so mild and his motor control was still so jerky that we chalked it up to being extremely tired, mad or hungry - which he was each of those times. This time he has better motor control and didn't experience them in emotional extremes, he was calm, so it was more identifiable.
To add to the trauma of convulsions, the doctor we've been seeing refused to see him! Apparently the insurance company hasn't been paying the claims - which, in a whole other story turns out to be our fault. So . . . he hasn't been seen because he has no health insurance and the one place that would take the insurance he does have can't work him in until mid-November. Arrgghh! James will be switched to different coverage on Nov 1, so we'll pursue it more then.
So, all this to say, please pray that Uniform will go retro and cover the 5 visits we've had in the last two months, that we can find a pediatrician/doctor that is sympathetic to the fact that I refuse to immunize any of my children again (I've done way too much research to take any more chances with my children's health), and that no lasting damage has been to James' body or mind.
Things that make me wonder . . .
- At his two month check, James was in the 90th percentile all around. Then he was given shots.
- At his four month check, James was in the 25th percentile - he hadn't grown at all since 2 months.
- He has been sick, non-stop, since a week after his two month check.
- He was happy and cheerful before his two month check and has been irritable and grumpy since then.
Coincidence? I'm not convinced.
