Is this why they call Montana "Big Sky Country?"
We make it all the way to Bozeman - about 85 miles if you're wondering. Time for a diversion!Enter the Grizzly Adventure (I think that was what they called it). The signs promise "Live Grizzly Bears!" Well, there were live grizzly bears - 2 of them. but that was it. No buildings full of grizzly lore, no displays, no nothing . . . except a pen with 2 (live) grizzly bears. Now don't get me wrong, we did get to see them fairly close up, and we did get some great pictures (what do you think of the littlest one?), and there was a lady there who was very knowledgeable on hand to answer questions. But . . . can you say tourist trap? Hmmm.
It's almost lunch time, so we need to find someplace to feed the kids. We move on into the next town and find a park, make some sandwiches and let the kids play for a while. We have now wasted vast amounts of time and feel the need to push on. We need to make Billings tonight if we are going to get into Lusk in time to sign closing papers. Google says it's only about 2 hours from Bozeman to Billings, but they don't have 5 kids in the car. We finally hit Billings around dinner time, but push through to get a bit farther. We are so close to the Wyoming border the draw is irresistible. We just keep pushing and finally . . .
We made it to Wyoming!! (Oops, Did I forget to mention the redneck trailer behind the van?) The kids immediately began "looking for our new house." They were most disappointed when we informed them that we had a whole day of driving in front of us yet. We stayed that night in Ranchester, WY - I don't recommend stopping there.
